Course Description:
This course will focus on the physical exam and health assessment performed by the hospital based nurse.
In addition to performing a thorough assessment and studying common findings and “normals,” we will emphasize the nurse’s role and responsibilities in clinical scenarios when there are “abnormal” findings that may be of a more urgent nature and will require intervention on the part of the healthcare team.
You will become more comfortable using the stethoscope. Charting and universal precautions will be emphasized as we go through the course.
As your comfort level dictates, I encourage everyone to switch partners often so you visualize as many differences as possible in the physical exam.
